But I want to get back to the bases of David Kajganich's fiction... If you're interested there are many books on Hitler and the Occult, also the history channel and the Discovery channel have great documentaries on this theme and Third Reich and the Occult... And much of the thinking was based on these relicts – things from ancient races, measured sculls of the oldest people they can find thinking they were descendants of the gods...

These shots that you have seen of these black and white – very graphic shots – with the light across people's eyes – it's straight out of German Expressionism that fits the film...


The great days of Noir when black and white and light and shadow were used in very dramatic graphic ways, and, of course, it's ideal when you're doing period, because it evokes... [No birds were hurt in the making of this movie]...
I think maybe if you're watching commentary maybe you know the story of the movie, but this the point that will change everyone's life in the film and leads to the "modern day" portion...
I can't say enough about Christian Niculescu who was our production designer, he built this that farm house and the barn in the middle of nowhere, I mean, we were miles away from the town of Buharest (this is the main city of Rumania) and you can see his work here – he manufactured this in short period of time...
