The countdown to Hollywood stars Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard potentially being spotted in Ely is now on.
Marquees have been erected on Cross Green, adjacent to Ely Cathedral, as scenes of the hugely-anticipated new adaptation of William Shakespeare’s tragedy, Macbeth, are being shot inside the cathedral's Lady Chapel.
As previously reported, filming is expected to start on Thursday and is due to continue until Saturday.
The film stars Oscar-nominated Irish-German actor Michael Fassbender and French actress Marion Cotillard, and according to the Casting Network Ltd, the Surrey-based firm appointed to recruit extras for the film, Fassbender will definitely be at the cathedral and it is "highly likely" Cotillard will be too.
An insider at the cathedral said: "We started to clear things for filming on Sunday night and we're going to be putting everything back again this coming Saturday night."
A spokeswoman for the cathedral said she was unable to comment on the filming due to confidentiality agreements.
The filming comes just months after scenes for blockbuster Jupiter Ascending, starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, were filmed at the cathedral.
Fassbender earned a 2014 Academy Award nomination for his role as slave owner Edwin Epps in 12 Years a Slave.
Cotillard has starred in a whole host of films, including La Vie en Rose, The Immigrant and Furia.
